Nice unique styling. After about six months, the notches are showing a small amount of rust. Pay special attention to those areas if powder coating this yourself.
I like this tire carrier as it opens with the tailgate so your not trying to undo 2 latches and it is Solid. I like the High Lift Jack setup for it too you just can't go wrong with this purchase and it is an easy install too.
Love the look of the tire carrier and the fact that I can mount my hi-lift and cb antenna on it, and that it opens with the tailgate. I've been rocking it for over a year now, through various trails, and no problems.
Carries my 35" Duratracs with ease and looks great. The operation is flawless. I like the fact I have some adjustability with the mechanism that attaches it to the tailgate. Having the HiLift mount is a definite plus. The install was fairly straight forward. The only issue I had was I couldn't quite figure out which way to put the seal in. A quick call to JCR answered the question. The joints that attach the carrier to the tailgate needed a couple washers to make the fit a little tighter and reduce rattle. Spraying these down with WD-40 on occasion will also eliminate squeaks. Another awesome JCR product.
Of the 5+ JCR products that I have on my JK, this is the only that has let me down a little. It started off being an easy install. Once it came time to attach the carrier to the tailgate is when the problems arose. It stuck out too far. The rubber bumpers that come with it were nearly 1/2" from making contact with the tailgate. After a lot of working with Allen and doing a few modifications on my end, everything is working fine now. Before you order this, check the backspacing of your wheels and give JCR a call to make sure it's compatible with their carriers. Mine wasn't and I had to trim the mounting sleeves back in order to let my tire rest against the carrier. When it's all said and done, I'm happy with the product, but it was a headache to get it all working properly.
