Jeep 1 Ton Steering Upgrade, over the knuckle (fabrication required.)
all makes and models of Jeeps.
So you want it all? You want to bash the rocks all weekend, then drive it to work on Monday. You want to hold the wheel and a carmel macchiato in one hand, and talk on your cell in another? Well you're going to work for it... but it will be worth it in the end, We promise.
Just like our under the knuckle setup; the rods are a beefy 1.25" diameter DOM, with an almost .25" wall; threads are direct tapped into the tube. This means (unlike a threaded insert) the TRE has full thread engagement into the tube for the length of its threads. On this system the passenger side TRE dust boot is replaced with a polyurethane spacer, which pulls the body of the TRE against this knuckle. This eliminates the tie rod roll that an inverted T setup sometimes has.
We recommend having this kit installed by a professional 4x4 shop in your area as cutting, drilling, reaming, and some fabrication needs to be done Installation should take about 4-5 hours.
In order to install this kit OTK on coil sprung front Jeeps you MUST:
Remove sway bar end link mounts (axle side.)
Cut/Remove Factory Steering Stabilizer mount.
Trim the front of the Coil Buckets.
Drill and Ream the Knuckles from the top.
Adjust the steering stops.
We also RECOMMEND:
That you replace/relocate your sway bar endlinks mounts (axle side.)
That you brace the inside front of your coil buckets.
Depending on what frameside trackbar bracket your running, you may want to relocate the axle side trackbar bracket above the axle. It's just a matter of matching the angle of the trackbar and draglink.
Please read the installation instrucions below BEFORE BUYING THIS PRODUCT. This will ensure that you realize what is involved with this install, and the limitations of this setup.

The only reason I bought this product was to save me time. It’s an easy kit to put together if I wanted to on my own, but the price wasn’t bad so I went for this kit. 100% regret it. Both of the DL ends’ threads were smashed when making the cotterpin hole. I tediously filed the threads back into decent shape which worked ok for one of them. On the other, the nut threaded in and stripped the threads. I had to cut the nut off and ruin a brand new 1 ton drag link end, and I had purchase another set. I should have just acquired everything myself instead of wasting time with this kit. In all I spent a considerable amount more time AND money dealing with this kit. Grant
Everything was great except one tie rod end had a dent in it which has not allowed me to get a zerk to screw in, That was my only disappointment, with not much help to solve the issue. hunter
The drilling and reaming wasn't that bad. Took my time, and used lots of cutting oil. Adjusting the steering stops was a must on my 97 XJ, even with the coil buckets trimmed as far back as I dared go, and with the sway bar mounts cut off, the steering makes contact. My track bar needs to be relocated, as it will not fit in its current location. I'm using the Rubicon Express Track bar and the HD mount on the drivers side. I ordered a OTK axle side track bar bracket from TNT Customs. JCR should think about making their own OTK Trackbar setup. . Jason
I installed this OTK steering kit at the same time I installed my 5 inch lift on my 95 ZJ. After watching the install video from the PBRB about 50 times it was honestly and easy install. I tried using a battery powered drill at first and man that was a time wasting mistake. Though install only took about 2 hours probably 1 hour of that was ting to drill with my battery powered drill. After switching to a corded drill I was literally done in minutes and was making adjustments to get the alignment correct. I've been running the OTK kit for about 6 months and have had no issues heck I don't even have a steering dampener on and don't have death wobble. I give this product a solid five stars it's a great addition this my expedition build and I'm glad to have made my purchase from such a great company. Ps thanks for calling me to pester me about not having it installed 3 months after purchase. David
this kit is awesome this kit has taken a beating and still works amazing from smashing on rocks to driving on the road. after getting my kit installed about 2 months later JCR calls me to ask how my steering is and if there was any problems. i was very surprise they called. i order parts from so many companies and they are the only company that does that. there costumer service and product is 5 stars all around. i will be ordering from them again. :&41;.
