So I bought the Vanguard Full-Width bumper for my LJ Rubicon over 2 years ago planning to buy this Adventure Tire Carrier because of a few factors (ability to mount rotopax, square light mounts, and it's made in the US) The bumper is great and I bought it with the powder coating before JCR did that in house (the powder coating started to easily surface rust) but that was fine I guess. Nothing a little POR 15 couldn't fix. I also figured bought the frame tie-in brackets to ensure the bumper was super sturdy.
When it finally came time to buy this tire carrier and install it I was happy at first. After using it over time, opening and closing it frequently, the little mount bracket that has a rubber grommet that eventually gets bent back from shutting it frequently. When this happens, it's tough to bend that bracket back into the correct spot. I spent plenty of time on the phone and chatting via email with JCR's support team to try and resolve the issue ensuring that I'm doing everything correctly, and although they were friendly, we got nowhere and the tire carrier is still a pain and extremely annoying. Because the bracket is bent back, the latch system is not held in place correctly so now it just rattles while driving and it's making me go insane!
Another point that had me upset about this tire carrier is the locking system when the tire carrier is open. It's supposed to lock into place on the "bomb-proof" spindle while open. Well, when I opened it one day the system did not lock and the tire carrier swung wide open and slammed into the backside of my LJ and now I have a dent on the tub of my LJ. I try to keep my LJ extremely clean considering it's low mileage and I might sell it at some point, so a dent in the rear isn't going to help me. I guess I should chalk that up as my fault for expecting it to lock easily on its own...
All in all, I would not recommend this system until JCR and their engineering team updates it with a more improved latch system, It's really a shame because it looks great but functionally not great at all. The Sheild Gate Swing they make for the JK and JL would be a much better option if they made it for the TJ/LJ/YJ. Right now I'm using bungie-cords and tie-down straps to make sure it doesn't rattle. I'm extremely upset because now I'm about to completely ditch this $1,000+ system to find one that works better and doesn't rattle... That is unless JCR want's to reach out to me to right this wrong somehow.

Instructions are always lacking. There were no instructions for the universal tire mount, which you have to tighten the bolt until the pins lock into place. This is nice in the future if i change my bolt pattern as they come out with a lot of hammer hits. My other issue is the track for the pin on the right side is too short on a Tj. When closing the carrier the pin slides off the track and sits on the bumper. When opening the carrier you have to first open the latch and then go to the other side and pop the other side. You can fix this with a washer, but jcr should just make a longer track. I might contact JCR about a couple issues. Overall though fantastic carrier and literally bomb proof, the price is high, but this carrier is high quality.

Ridiculously solid. Well made, braced and welded. They spared nothing for this carrier. Bombproof spindle is ridiculous. Carrier utilizes about half the spindle. The bottom half is buried and secured inside tight-fitting DOM tubing welded into bumper. Imagine a tree with as much tree underground, as above ground. Now imagine it's made out of solid steel. It can hold wheel/tire, hi lift, cans and you jumping up and down. Entire carrier meant to sag 1/8-1/4". Barely does it. Zero rattle, shimmy or looseness.
