Great product, well built for sure. Only issue is that it doesn't quite fit my `98 XJ - the corner of presses pretty bad against the upper radiator hose. Seems like it might punch a hole in it eventually. It should really be redesigned - I can't really use it as is. Anonymous
I put this on my 98 XJ, and it’s completely over built and the powder coating is pretty good. That being said it is a tight fit, almost to the point that it wouldn’t go in. It’s not tall enough on the back and touches the top of the fender well, so I had to bend it to get it in. Also I wish they would’ve supplied new nuts for the 3 bottom bolts instead of having to reuse my old rusty ones. But despite that this is a good upgrade to my broken plastic box. Thanks JCR. You can't always keep the greasy side of an XJ down, but you can keep it from starting on fire with a secure battery in this steel tray. As always, JCR's quality is sky high. Because they don't write it in the specs, I crossed my fingers hoping that like the late model stock XJ trays, it would fit a type 34 without modification, and it does. I do wish they'd either modify the design a bit or include nuts for the attachment to the fender. The stock nuts are oversized and flanged for the plastic. On this tray, there is not enough room to comfortably get a socket on the stock nuts. They could modify the design to add a little more room. Or, because JCR is always so great about including fasteners and the oversized nuts aren't necessary on the steel tray, it would be sweet if they'd throw in three standard nuts to replace the stockers. This a great product. A must if you are an off-road enthusiast. It is tough, it allows for a bigger battery, and the product shows the quality. Nice edges and powder coat finish. The best part is that it is made in the USA for a great price. -Marcos. Anonymous
I installed this on my 1987 Cherokee. The cons, the rear corner hit my inner fender well when tightened and I had to cut a section on the top hold - down where the logo is because it was hitting my top radiator hose hard. The pro's, nice powder coating and look, and next time when I replace my battery I will have more choices because it is larger than the stock battery box. Anonymous
