Sagging and Bumper issues
(Oregon) | May 14th, 2021
I Bought the Wrangler Tire Carrier almost a year ago for my Jeep JLU and really wanted to test out how it performs. The carrier itself is solid. Carries the spare, two jerry cans and my high lift like a champ. Gate swings very smoothly and locks in place to prevent overswinging. Added lights and my tow hitch like seen in the picture. Downside – The hinge point relies STRONGLY on the bumper being solid. I had the bumper installed professionally and had the JCR full width bumper, after only a week, started to flex due to the weight and twist. This causes a big gap between your Jeep and the tire carrier and looks funny when you see it from the side. Probably why they avoid this viewpoint in the pictures. I had to twist it back into place to have the tire stand straight and tight to the back of my Jeep to only have it happen again after a week. I will probably have to due some metal fab to the bumper to prevent the twisting from happening. The carrier is not a bad buy but is strongly impacted by the lower quality of the bumper. Being that they are manufactured by the same company you would think the quality would be the same and reinforcements on the bumper would be made for this carrier. Unfortunately, being that the carrier relies on the bumper and only the bumpers by JCR I have to give it a three star review max.
Note From JcrOffroad: Matt, we are sorry to hear about the issues with your bumper. Please check that the side mounting bolts that tie the bumper to the Jeep's frame are tight. If these loosen up than the carrier can appear like it does on your Jeep. If these continue to loosen you may need to use some red loctite. If you have any issues please contact our customer service team.
Jeep Cherokee Crusader front bumper
(Texas) | April 15th, 2021
I really love the looks of this bumper on my Jeep. JCR has hit the nail on the head with the styling of their products. Seems to be well built, I would love to have a matching rear bumper and maybe even a roof rack, but the pricing of their products is outrageous if I’m being honest. Pretty bad when a set of bumpers and a roof rack would cost more then what I paid for the Jeep all together...
Nice but
(Oregon) | March 30th, 2021
It’s nice but it doesn’t fit for a TJ this was almost 2 inches too long and by time I got done cutting everything down and re-tapping it basically just wasted my labor as the installer , it would’ve been more cost-effective to just buy the raw materials and make it myself that way I could’ve cut it once threaded once and been one and done instead I had to spend couple of hours cutting everything re-measuring everything and re-tapping it to get it down to the right length , perhaps they intend on sending it long and you’re supposed to do that I don’t know if that’s the case they should have multiple different part numbers for different vehicles
Note From JcrOffroad: Tyler, the OTK kits are the proper length for the listed vehicles when going over the knuckle. There is a chance that you received and under the knuckle bar by mistake? Please reach out to us at info@jcroffroad.com and we can be of further assistance. Sorry for the hassle.
Nice look, Function Questionable
(California) | March 12th, 2021
Nice quality light. Put on my 1997 Wrangler TJ with the impression that they would function as my turn signal. I searched for ones that stated they would function normally. This product claimed it was internally isolated to function normally. My blinker is 90 miles per hour. For their use, I could have gone for a cheaper set and had the same results. Might be something they put in the description next time. I like the lights, but hate actually having to use them. I feel it looks tacky for your blinker to go that fast.
Note From JcrOffroad: Sorry for the confusion, the functions (turn signal, running light) work as they should, but to solve fast blink you will need an LED flasher relay or a 50ohm resistor depending on your vehicle model.
Have to Bend it Constantly
(CA) | February 4th, 2021
The latch is good quality, and definitely beefier than the stock one that snapped. However, you constantly have to bend the latch to get it to close again after opening the center console. But it does latch so I will give it that, but for the price, I'd expect it to work flawlessly.
Works, kinda
(AZ) | January 9th, 2021
You'll have to bend it to get it to latch and even then the lid isn't closed snugly. It isn't broken like the plastic one but not sure if buy this again. Seems like a little more refinement and it would latch a little better.
Good stuff but not completely as pictured.

Haven't mounted yet but everything seems stout and all the hardware is included. All is good other than it not having the logo cut outs on neither the driver or passenger like in the install video or pictures...
Good rack but has one major question mark
(Texas) | December 26th, 2020
Overall the half rack looks great. Very nice cnc cut aluminum parts with stainless steel screws and nuts. Looks very handsome on the truck. One major question mark is why the brackets are steal. And why the screws that hold the brackets are zinc coated steel although the rest is stainless? I think it is very hard to prevent these steel parts from rusting in the future. And the video/written instructions need some tlc. All the nuts and bolts come in a bag and it is hard to understand which one goes where. Now I have extra ones and I don’t even know if I had to use them or not. Overall it is a good product and with couple of fixes it will be a great one.
Flex
(California) | December 14th, 2020
When mounting HiLift, the bolts were at unsupported sections of the metal and would flex when tightened. I mounted an angle iron to the backside of the panel to stiffen it. Since this panel comes set up for this purpose, you'd think the design would have accounted for this already. Otherwise, it is useful and a good-looking way to keep the jack and shovel out of the way and secure underneath a tarp cover.
Had to bend it
(Virginia) | November 19th, 2020
I thought the latch would be a little springy but it’s not just bendy, It bolts in but doesn’t latch, had to bend the part that sticks down down and around to get it to latch somewhat, overall it’s better than nothing but still not what I expected when getting a regular “bolt on” item
