Aluminum bent easily
(CO) | November 9th, 2022
I ordered the Vanguard bumper in aluminum to save significant weight. I installed the bumper and a Warn VR Evo 12S winch, with Factor 55 Ultrahook. The first time I retracted the winch rope in order to pull the Ultrahook tight against the fairlead, it significantly bent the part of the bumper that the fairlead attaches to. I was shocked that it bent so much with relatively minor force needed to hold the Ultrahook securely against the fairlead. I would definitely advise against paying the significant extra price to get the bumper in aluminum. I'm quite concerned if I ever have to actually winch myself or someone else with this bumper.
Note From JcrOffroad: Troy, sorry to hear you had issues with your bumper. Any material is capable of bending in this way as the fairlead mount isn't meant to take the force of a winch pulling the hook more than snug. In a recovery situation, the fairlead is meant to direct the cable with perhaps some load up, down, or side to side with an off-center pull. The only time we see this much back force on a fairlead is when cinching the cable. Please reach out to our tech support team if we can be of further assistance on this.

One hangs lower than the other. 2 stars.
Roof Rack
(Colorado) | November 3rd, 2021
Beware that the short roof rack doesn't fit in the front ! I tried to contact JCR and get specific brackets to move the rack over the freedom panels, no success. Well built rack but for now it remains in my driveway !
Note From JcrOffroad: We don't trust the freedom panels to hold the complete weight of a rack (without any rear top support) so that is why we don't make this option available. Sorry if there was any confusion!
Steel is good. Product is ok. Service was poor.
(Colorado Springs CO) | July 25th, 2021
Thick steel that was exactly what I wanted. The problem is the bad service when they had an issue. I know COVID delayed everything but they said it was a 2 months turn around. I ended up getting them 6 months from order date. Also, the blinkers don’t work with the LED group package. This could’ve been fixed before the product was released. Others have figured it out.
Note From JcrOffroad: Rick we apologize for the long delay on your order. Order volumes have really been an issue for us lately. Doing out best to catch up. You can use the Tazer to control the dash message when converting from the factory LED turn signal group to our LEDs. Our goal was to keep a super low profile light setup without the added complexity and cost that the plug and play light modules add. You can spend that money on a programmer which will not only solve the light issue, but has many more features to help with future upgrades.
Product is good, but installation is impossible
(Idaho) | June 17th, 2021
Overall, this product is built well. However, the installation was extremely challenging. I ended up doing a "meh" job because "thats as good as its gonna get." Trying to drill very large holes perfectly centered on a dot, while stepping up drill bit sizes step by step, is nearly impossible, especially with the enormous drill bits required for this product -- which I had to special order online. Then trying to ratchet down the rivet nuts manually was next to impossible. The resistance of the nut against the washers made ratcheting very difficult and the rivet ended up just spinning in the hole depte the stabilization with a crescent wrench (the "inner" washer has no way to grip and stabilize the rivet). When I got it as tight as I possibly could, the rivet still wasn't tight enough and jiggled in the hole despite my best efforts. Even then, the threads of the rivet do not end in the center of the hole, there is several mm of variation as the rivet "crumples" in. The threads weren't centered and I couldn't get the product to fasten correctly. And there is no way to try again. This is a one-shot installation. I ended up cross-threading the bolt in a last ditch effort to get the panel installed. The job is done, but the bolt hangs part way out to this day -- but thats as good as its gonna get. I would not recommend this product to my friends and I doubt I'll be be purchasing from JCR Offroad in the future.
Note From JcrOffroad: We are sorry to hear you had issues installing the nutserts in this kit. They are really the only way to get a secure fastener on sheetmetal however. If one is spinning still you may be able to compress it more with a nutsert crimping tool, please contact our tech support team if you want more information on that.
Incorrect mounting hardware included
(WA) | May 22nd, 2021
I love the look of these, unfortunately I had to make multiple trips to my local hardware store to pick up the correct mounting hardware since the hardware they sent did not fit my 2020 gladiator. Ended up being a full day event to get these installed.
Note From JcrOffroad: We apologize for any mispackaging with the hardware. We would have happily shipped you the correct bolt pack if we had known. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us with any further issues.
Doesn't last too long, customer service not much help
(CA) | April 14th, 2021
I put this kit on my jeep about 3 years back, and since then I've had constant issues with it. Handling is a bit worse than stock, components come without paint etc., and everything wears out quick. When I've reached out to customer service they've given vague answers like "throw a couple poly bushings in, should take care of it." I'm not really getting specific help with my issues, and if other JCR components are needed to make this steering work right, that should be indicated up front or included in the kit.
Cool bumper but the winch didn't fit
(KS) | April 10th, 2021
I bought this bumper because I purchased both DIY front and rear bumpers prior to owning a Waren vr evo. So I bought the DIY winch bumper kit built it and the winch is too large to fit in the bumper. So I had to modify the back plate by cutting two 2-in slots in the back plate and I had to then put gussets on the sides to reinforce it. Overall not too happy with the product that only says a winch with a 10x4 pattern will fit
Good quality but poor attention when packing hardware
(Kansas) | April 7th, 2021
I really like the fit and quality of the doors however I recived 1 hinge that was not correct as well as two lef side door latches.Very frusterating having to wait for two additional shipments of parts when it should have been right the first time.
Note From JcrOffroad: We apologize for the shipping error on the doors.
Waste of time and money
(California) | January 24th, 2021
Due to the lack of a tutorial and/or pictures showing how to weld the mounts to the rack, I ended up welding them backwards, and it will require to redo the entire work. What a waste of time and money!
