Great, but missing something critical
(Utah) | November 2nd, 2020
I purchased two of these, so that my truck bed could accommodate items on both sides...I was super disappointed to realize that these DON'T hold RotopaX or FueldpaX containers. This was one of the biggest reasons for buying them and would have just bought the front Molle panel that CAN hold these, if I would have known this. I also would have liked them to be attached at the bottom somehow, so they can be more firmly placed there for gear. Otherwise, they're okay.
Great Bumper, disappointing powder coat
(Galveston) | September 19th, 2020
The bumper itself is well built and the install was easy to follow. I used the You Tube video and written instructions and everything fit perfectly. I did have to drill new holes for my winch mount, but that was an issue with the Quadratec Q9000 winch and not the pre-drilled holes. I cannot give five stars as I felt the powder coating was sub-par versus what I had on a Smittybilt bumper in the past that was very durable. The JCR powder coat chipped very easily and I had to touch up several areas with Rustoleum black rust primer as I did not want to leave metal exposed in the Gulf Coast environment. I feel that I will be constantly checking the coating to ensure that I keep it protected. I did touch up one area over this past weekend that had chipped. Would I buy it again? Probably not unfortunately solely due to that issue; not the build quality or design..
Good, but too expensive for what you get
(Colorado) | September 17th, 2020
Although I like the design and it was fairly easy install, JCR should be selling these as a set for 150 bucks. These panels are their true money makers. A few other companies have same exact panels for less than half the cost. Hindsight I should have got a set of these from a different company for 100, instead of 1 for 150 bucks. Quality product, but definitely overpriced.
Knowing is half the battle
(VA) | September 13th, 2020
I ordered my Crusader for my 1989 MJ and it arrived 6 weeks to the date. When I purchased, all indications fromt he website were it is a direct fit. So While awaiting I had my truck painted. I found out after the shop tried to install the bumper it does not fit. Why? Because after I called I was told the fenders have to be cut. This would be helpful to know upfront, Please update your Description section to mention Pre 96 will have to have body modification. This sort of information is pretty relevant in this case. That way when I I spend thousands on a paint job I can better prioritize the work Second, the bumper came ripped open on the end and the bumper hanging out having been bounced across every hard surface along the way. Did wonders for the powder coating I paid for. I'm sure it will looks great from what I read, but not a fan of the transparency upfront nor the packaging. Nice foam inside the box but not well protected on the ends. Like wearing chaps but falling on your butt, not a lot of good it does.
Note From JcrOffroad: The fender cutting information is in the install document, but we apologize for it not being in the product description; it has been added. Please contact us directly about any shipping damages at info@jcroffroad.com We apologize for the issues.
Great Part, Bad Hardware
(GA) | September 2nd, 2020
These brackets are great! They fit perfectly, seem strong, and were powder coated to match the Adventure rack. Wasnt able to mount them because the hardware is too short. Same as my review of the 046-0059 mounting hardware. They will thread in to the base/plate that goes inside the cross arm on the rack but, they only thread in about a thread or two. Perfect for instagram pictures but not safe or proper for actual use, especially interstate driving and or off roading. Maybe I got a bad batch but you can see in the pics on the site that the bolts/screws are super short. Went to school for aerospace engineering if that helps. Also this may not be JCRs mistake, it appears that "Victory" might be the supplier/partner. JCR has always sent the correct hardware with my parts over the years. Wouldn't stop me from buying these brackets again though. Hardware is easy to source, good brackets arent.
Honest Review - black hardware kit
(GA) | September 2nd, 2020
The hardware itself is pretty decent and they give you everything you need plus extras. The only con is that it should have already come with the rack. Diesnt make sense to make a part that is 100% black but give shiny chrome hardware with it. Most folks looking for a part that's black powder coated are going to want matching hardware. Feels like the black hardware should have been what comes with the rack and the chrome/stainless hardware should have been the additional option. If I would have wrote this review the day I found out my rack came with chrome hardware it would have been full of expletives. I've had time to think and remember that generally JCR does me right and I love them so I decided to take it easy. Stinks to get your rack and not be able to install it immediately. Also price is a bit high but not egregious.
Center Console Latch
(NC) | August 8th, 2020
Latch is nice and of top quality. Unfortunately it didn’t actually latch. It looks nice but doesn’t function for me and my XJ.
Pay Attention
(Houston, TX) | May 7th, 2020
I love the idea of having somewhere to mount a flashlight or fire extinguisher vs. it rolling around the Jeep, but I didn't even notice that this thing uses one of the hardtop bolts for mounting. No big deal if you leave the top on all the time, but every time you want to take off the full top, you have to contort yourself to get that bolt out, take off the top, bolt the panel back down, unbolt it again to put the top back on, and then refit everything when the top is back in place. I will probably leave it on, but the mounting locations are disappointing.
Great craftsmanship, not so great design
| April 29th, 2020
Love the craftsmanship and material, shipping and customer service were top notch. Not super happy with the look...leaves the pinch seams exposed and fills with rocks.
Not worth the high cost
(Denver) | January 15th, 2020
Not enough self tapping bolts. If you didn't save your hardware from taking your old fenders and liners, you'll be taking a trip to the hardware store for these 10 mm hex bolts. Also the dust guard for the pinch seam is garbage and isn't clean fitting. For $329 I'd expect all hardware and expect the fit to be cleaner.
