one loose nutsert :(
(Florida) | January 29th, 2022
Used these to install a hitch, so this product was probably overkill. pulled the rear bumper and mounts. Pax side had a factory XJ strip already installed. There are rivets to drill or chisel out before you can remove this strip. The only problem was one of the nut serts on the strip didn't hold when tightening everything down. I can see it spinning on the strip. of course, I can't reach it with a tool so I must live with it. This bolt will have to be cut out so I hope I never have to deal with it again..
Had a bunch of leftovers
(TX) | October 19th, 2021
This is a solid kit that fits everything, but I feel the price was a bit jacked for all the extra pieces you're getting. Put this on my XJ, wish you could choose what you needed even if it knocked just a few bucks off the price. Overall, I just dig JCRs parts and how they play together. It's like the Lego of Jeep aftermarket.
Best thought out 1-ton UTK Kit
(Redlands, CA) | October 18th, 2021
Great product, the use of 1.25" DOM tubing is probably what makes this kit better than all the others. Using straight-tubing allows for a much easier time setting toe. If you use 1.5" tubing it isnt going to clear the stock-trackbar hardware or an aftermarket diff-cover, hence the great choice in 1.25". The TRE's are the typical Moog parts, which will always be easy to source. Drilling out the knuckles and pitman arm can be a choir, easy with them removed and in a vise though. But I would rather have TRE's than heims when it involves a street-driven vehicle. I would have given this product a 5, but the QC leaves much to be desired. I never received the zerk fittings, cotter-pins or poly-bushing. And the real kicker was the castle-nuts, I got 3 out of 4. I had to go to the local junkyard because no part store carried one that would fit and Moog doesnt sell hardware.
Nice Rack, But...
(Sparks, NV) | August 11th, 2021
I bought the full size rack to mount kayaks and an awning. The rack looks great and was fairly easy to install by myself. After watching the installation video, I also had plans to mount some cargo lighting and some rear facing LEDs. The video shows that the cross rails and top rails have flanges along with holes for wire ties, in the event that you might run some wiring through the rack. Well, during install, I noticed that my rack didn't have the flanges or the holes. Not only was I bummed that I probably wouldn't be able to conceal my wiring as nicely, I also realized that my rack probably wasn't as strong as the rack with the flanged rails. Overall, it's a nice product and one of the nicer looking racks that are available, but the video is a little misleading.
Drill a Hole?
(TX) | July 21st, 2021
The video said he used a 3/8 inch bit to drill the holes to attach the front of this panel. I pulled my 3/8 inch bits and found the were all too large for the holes in the overhead Molle panel. It seems something smaller than 3/8 inch would be better able to manage the holes in the panel.
Installation
(Texas) | July 21st, 2021
Maybe this is obvious, but if you plan on using these panels to mount anything that stands off more than 3 inches from the panel, like fire extinguishers and first aide kits, you might reconsider. Maybe my 2021 gladiator is different. There is no way to mount anything on these panels that won't cause problems raising or lowering the seats. Yes, your photo and many reviews suggest otherwise. I like these panels in my gladiator, but I discovered anything mounted on these panels can block the seat backs when they are raised or lowered, and can also hide or bind the rear passenger-side seat belt. I could not mount the 4.5 inch fire extinguisher, similar to the one you have in your marketing photo. Instead, I mounted a smaller, 3.25 inch extinguisher on a base that rotates out of the way when the seats are raised or lowered. Maybe a better solution is to mount anything with a 3 inch or larger stand off somewhere else.
Adventure Rack for X J
(South Texas) | July 11th, 2021
Good construction but not much freeboard space to carry items. Seems to be a “glorified bunk bed grid”. High price.
Form and Function, almost 5 stars
(CA) | January 5th, 2021
Purchased this product not to be "King of the Mall" as the product description states....but because it was a much needed modification after some wheeling resulting in the factory inner fender lining being torn off. Thus, looking for a sturdy replacement. This fender kit fits the bill and is in-line with the product quality of my previous JCR purchase. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars....the driver's side inner liner came with a manufacturer defect... a small indentation that runs from top to bottom on the rear panel. It's purely cosmetic so it won't impact the performance...but still a bit of a bummer. If you're installing with the factory fenders a couple of items to know; at about 1:55 into the video they show you where to drill on the driver side. What isn't mentioned in the video is that you need to bend back a metal tab prior to drilling; there is no such tab on the passenger side. In addition, the factory fenders have posts that come down directly over where you're supposed to insert the top two bolts securing the inner fender. I simply cut these off with a Dremel; it should have minimal impact on the outer fender performance and you notice no changes cosmetically as they're interior to the fender.
Great product once I got all the parts
(Colorado) | January 2nd, 2021
The product gets 5 stars but JCR gets 2 stars for their customer service as the board came without any brackets for installation and it took almost 6 weeks to get the parts so I could install it. Luckily I planned to install over the holiday break and the parts came just in time but I would have been pretty miffed if this were the middle of the summer and I was intending to use right away,. Installation was pretty easy although getting the bolts tightened down behind the board is a bit tricky. I had to re-thread my mounting holes due to the spray in bed liner partially covering them. Did this with a 6mm tap and my power drill on low speed, not much room there to use the standard tap tools. Put two 3 gallon cans in there which will definitely provide some peace of mind given the poor mileage of the Gladiator, especially when towing.
Setting the bourgeoisie apart from the peasants
(Denver, CO) | December 15th, 2020
I don't judge people by the color of their skin but I now judge owners of JCR and Victory racks by the color of their hardware. Are they mere commoners who felt it was ok to install - gasp! - the stock hardware or do they enjoy the finer things in life, such as bolts and washers that actually match the color of the rack? On a more serious note, as another reviewer mentioned, this should be included with the rack in the first place. Jeep owners: note that the eight heavy-duty bolts that attach the rack to mounting brackets and the brackets to your roof are not part of this set - it only replaces the smaller hardware that assembles the actual rack.
