Write a Product Review: JL Rear Bumper | Vanguard Full-Width | Jeep Wrangler (2018+)

This was part of an larger order, front, rear, skid plate and tire carrier. There is no doubt that the craftsmen that physically built this bumper have pride in ownership. Welds are clean as they come, with a nice balance of non-perfection that hand welding provides. Finish was good, but not as durable as one sees in other manufactured baked finishes. The bumper is somewhat of a large steel torpedo in it's shipping box, so keeping it from projecting out one end or the other is likely a challenge. The JCR Offroad bumper came wrapped in plastic, then inserted in a foam injected box. In the case of this particular shipment, the bumper did indeed work through the box, leaving the points of the bumper banged up and finish chipped. But it is a heavy steel bumper, so I was OK with the overall condition when received. The only improvement I would have liked to see on this one was something to cover the cavities of the rear of the wheel well that become exposed when the OEM bumper is removed. It's now an opportunity for lots of mud, salt, and grime to get up in there. Having some engineered shields as part of the bumper would have been super. Also a few inside the bumper tie-downs/anchor points for wires. Just tow welded eyelets would have been great to strap wires more comfortable inside the bumper than to leave them hanging, or stretched between anchor points of the frame. All in all, it's a heavy duty bumper, and checks the 'quality' box as an A+. Well thought out box a 'B+'. Finish a 'B+', packaging a 'C'.
