Upgraded hatch struts may be needed. We've used Lift Supports Depot 6315-W with success (https://www.liftsupportsdepot.com/strong-arm-6315-gas-charged-hood-lift-support/) you will need to unscrew the top ball and socket mount on the new strut and screw the strut into your stock hatch eyelet style mount. Make sure the threads are the same.
