"Love your product, but how much is shipping going to cost me in Alberta?"
That was the question Mike asked us recently.
Mike was interested in a rear bumper for his 2021 Ford Bronco. He'd been following JcrOffroad for a while and finally decided it was time to build out his rig, but he wanted to know the real cost before he pulled the trigger, since he's ordering from Alberta, Canada.
At first, it seems like a simple question. Give us your address. We calculate shipping. Done.
Unfortunately, shipping to Canada has a few more moving pieces than that.
The shipping cost itself is only one part of the total. Once your order crosses the border, there can also be duties, brokerage fees, and Canadian taxes.
Some of those costs we can estimate. Others we can't.
That's why we wrote this article, to explain exactly what you can expect before placing your order, so there are no surprises.
TL;DR
When ordering from JcrOffroad and shipping to Canada, there are three costs to consider:
- UPS shipping charges
- Duties and brokerage fees
- Canadian taxes and exchange rate
✓ We can provide an accurate UPS shipping quote.
✗ We cannot accurately estimate duties, brokerage fees, or taxes.
Those charges are determined by the shipping carrier and the Canadian government, not JcrOffroad.
Typical Shipping Costs
Here's a general idea of what to expect, by product size:
Small Items
$65 - $225
Medium Items
$100 - $300
Large Items
$200 - $400
Freight Shipments
$450 - $750
These ranges are a general guide only. Actual cost depends on the size, weight, and destination of your order.

What Isn't Included?
This is the part that often catches customers by surprise.
Your shipping quote covers transporting your order to Canada.
That's it.
It does not include:
- Duties
- Brokerage fees
- Canadian taxes
- Exchange rate
Those charges are assessed when your shipment enters Canada, and they're the responsibility of the recipient.
Why Can't JCR Tell Me Those Costs?
Fair question. The simple answer: we don't calculate them.
Duties, brokerage fees, and taxes are set by the shipping carrier and Canadian customs, based on:
- The products being imported
- The value of the shipment
- Your province
- Current import regulations
Because those factors are outside our control, we don't want to guess and risk giving you the wrong number. We'd rather be upfront about what we know and what we don't.

Can I Get a Shipping Quote Before I Order?
Absolutely. In fact, we encourage it.
Our team is happy to provide an official UPS shipping quote before you place your order. That gives you an accurate shipping cost and helps you make an informed decision.
One thing to remember: your shipping quote covers transportation costs only. Duties, brokerage fees, and Canadian taxes are collected separately as part of the import process.
